Verrado - An Oasis in the Desert

Verrado is located 35 minutes West of downtown Phoenix and is considered the most coveted and desirable place to live in the West Valley. Although easily confused for a city in itself, it is actually private neighborhood. Though, like no neighborhood you have ever seen before. It is far more than just a group of homes with a park with play structure on the corner. There are two different sections. Verrado, which is a family neighborhood and Victory in Verrado which is a 55+ neighborhood. Both tailored to spoil its residents.

Verrado is 8,800 acres, large enough for 14,080 Verrado homes and four million square feet of office, some light industrial and retail space. Verrado’s name is derived from the Spanish word “verdad,” which means truth and authenticity.

Are we still in the desert?

When you first enter Verrado, you will be happily surprised that it has decided to go in a different direction vs the standard desert decor of all other neighborhoods. With tree-lined streets and the majority of the public space covered in pristine grass. When Verrado chose to add trees, they went for gold. In the range of 20,000 trees have been planted and maintained in the common areas. There are also 78 parks, each vastly different from the next. The intention was that every home will be within a block of a park. Something that they  succeeded in doing.

Party time! Excellent!

Verrado has a never-ending list of celebrations. On the calendar you can find festivals, picnics, block parties, concerts, parades, fireworks, pie baking and eating contests, resident talent shows, and live concerts. Living in Verrado is a culture, not a neighborhood. Here are a few of our signature events that happen every year.

Founders Day is the party of the year. This is a weekend long celebration to celebrate Verrado community heritage. The party starts on Friday night with drinks under the stars and socializing with friends and neighbors. Saturday begins with a Fun Run/Walk and a pancake breakfast along with games and activities for all. Saturday night there is a resident talent show and a live concert. Not a concert the will bore you, but an actual band you know and likely own their cd’s. Bands that have previously played in the park in Verrado are En Vogue, Rachel Platten, Sugar Ray, Rick Springfield, Steven Page, Andy Grammer, B-52s, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy and The Beach Boys just to name a few. This concert as well as all the festivities and free to residents. Sunday is a neighborhood picnic, Community wide photo and the Neighborhood  Spirit Award is given out.

Spirit of Independence is when Verrado celebrates the Fourth of July and every inch of the Verrado community is covered in red, white and blue. The day starts with a community parade, followed by a festival in the park complete with food and the night rounds out with fireworks on the golf course.

Hometown Holidays is a winter tradition that celebrates the spirit of the holiday season. Bring the family to meet with Santa, have a real snowball fight, and gather around for the tree lighting ceremony.

It’s showtime!

Verrado always has your family in mind. Once a month, Verrado has a Movie in the Park night where residents bring out their lawn chairs and sit under the stars and enjoy a movie with their very large and very friendly Verrado family. Snow cones and popcorn are supplied for all to enjoy.

In the summer months, the movie night is moved to the water park and aptly named, ‘Dive’ in Movie night. Now you are free to lounge around the pool or in the water and enjoy the same amenities while watching a movie. The movies are chosen to be family friendly to keep anyone from being excluded and all residents are emailed the details of the show as well as the date and time.
